The Teaching Affairs Office

The Teaching Affairs Office is the college administrative department responsible for undergraduate teaching. Under the leadership of the CPC committees of the university and the college, it fully implements the higher education principles and policies of the party and the country to focus on the central task of the college’s undergraduate teaching. With the guidance of the Teaching Affairs Office of NCU, it is mainly responsible for the following duties: teaching affairs management, student status management, teaching research projects, and teaching quality management. It has one director and includes three sections, namely, Teaching Operation Section, Teaching Practice Section, and Integrated Development Section.

Location: Room 205, 208, 220, 222, the Administration Building, Donghu Campus.

Responsibilities of the Director of the Teaching Affairs Office

I. Focusing on the central task of the college’s undergraduate teaching, studying foreign and domestic education and teaching development trends and conducting academic affairs for medical undergraduates.

II. Assisting in the formulation of relevant teaching management regulations, organizing and coordinating schools (centers) to formulate talent training program for medical professionalsand making each procedure of undergraduate teaching runs smoothly and orderly.

III. Assisting to organize and coordinate schools (centers) in drafting the plan, document, and solution of the reform, construction and development of school education and teaching.

IV. Assisting to establish a standard system of medical undergraduate teaching quality for its improvement.

V. Assisting to organize schools (centers) in teaching assessment and construction.

VI. Coordinating and contacting relevant departments of the university to provide quality teaching logistics support and service for schools, teachers, and students.

VII. Fulfilling other tasks assigned by leaders.

i. The Teaching Operation Section

1. Student status and grade management

(1) Student status management tasks include processing study suspension, major transfer, audit and summary of graduation and degree awarding data.

(2) Grade management tasks include assisting the Teaching Affairs Office of NCU in data handling of supplementary and delayed exams at the beginning of semesters as well as academic year extensions.

(3) Information management tasks include sending its demand for medical function in the comprehensive teaching affairs management system to the Teaching Affairs Office of NCU.

(4) Others tasks include but are not limited to assisting the university in self-service printer management and material preparation for the degree committee of the college.

2. Teaching operation management

(5) Assigning medical teaching tasks for each semester and coordinating course scheduling.

(6) Checking the carry-out plan of the college and make modest adjustments.

(7) Strengthening classroom teaching management and giving feedback on teaching anomalies.

(8) Assisting the university in routine teaching inspections.

(9) Reviewing teachers’ theory teaching percentage as well as the audit of teaching quality and performance of schools.

(10) Purchasing textbooks for clinical medical majors and guidance books for teachers.

(11) Coordinating the deployment and use of classrooms for teaching.

3. Examination management

(12) Advancing reform in exam based on the university’s requirements, works concerning the homogeneous examination of clinical medical majors.

(13) Responsible for the exam organization and management of medical undergraduate students, including academic year extension, supplementary and delayed exams, final exams, selective exams for excellent classes, and major transfer exams.

(14) Being responsible for surveillance and patrol arrangement during exams, handling emergencies, and ensuring the success of exams.

(15) Guiding schools in exam materials filing as well as audits of relevant exam certification.

(16) Being responsible for the acceptance and audit of the manuscript of examination papers, as well as the printing, storage, distribution, sorting and filing of the paper.

(17) Guiding schools in examination paper analysis.

(18) Assisting the university with College English Tests.

(19) Organizing the homogeneous graduation examinations of clinical medical majors (theoretical exam).

4. Teaching management for foreign students

(20) Being responsible for course scheduling of foreign students and the implementation of their medical courses.

(21) Being responsible for the audit of teachers’ teaching tasks.

5. Other tasks

(22) Fulfilling other tasks assigned by leaders.

ii. The Teaching Practice Section

  1. Teaching practice management

(1) Coordinating work concerning the medicine-related thesis.

(2) Facilitating the university in summer semesters’ teaching management.

(3) Being responsible for off-campus internships and training of clinical medical majors.

(4) Being responsible for the organization and coordination of the Clinical Skills Competition among College Students in China.

(5) Being responsible for the homogeneous graduation examination of clinical medical majors (skill practice).

(6) Being responsible for the contact and coordination of medical teaching practice.

2. Teachers training

(7) Assisting the university to conduct teachers teaching competitions.

(8) Assisting the university in the selection and management of Top 10 Teaching Models and other honorary titles.

3. Clinical medical trials center management

(9) Assisting the director of the center in charge of corresponding work.

4. Other works

(10) Fulfilling other tasks assigned by leaders.

iii. Integrated Development Section

1. Enrollment plan and management of teaching reform programs

(1) Taking an overall step to coordinate the enrollment plans for undergraduate majors.

(2) Assisting the university in the management of teaching research projects.

(3) Assisting the university in the cultivation, organization and management of teaching achievements award.

2. Being responsible for programs financial management, teaching plan management, and major construction.

(4) Being responsible for the overall allotment and supervision of first-class undergraduate major construction funds.

(5) Being responsible for medical majors’ teaching plan amendment.

(6) Being responsible for the construction and management of medical majors.

3. Joint training

(7) Being responsible for the Education and Training Program of Excellent Doctors.

(8) Being responsible for the overseas exchanges of students from the Education and Training Program of Excellent Doctors.

4. Course construction

(9) Assisting the university in the course construction planning of clinical medical majors.

(10) Being responsible for the course syllabus management of clinical medical majors.

(11) Being responsible for making modest adjustments to the training program of clinical medical majors.

(12) Being responsible for the application of first-class courses among clinical medical majors.

5. Assessment of teaching quality

(13) Conducting work under the university’s surveillance and assessment system for teaching quality.

(14) Being responsible for the collection and feedback of basic teaching status data of clinical medical majors.

(15) Being responsible for organizing clinical medical majors to participate in professional certification, evaluation, and assessment conducted at all levels.

(16) Assisting to monitor the quality of education and teaching.

6. Integrated management

(17) Being responsible for the comprehensive document audit, news releasing, undergraduate teaching budget, and annual work summary of the Teaching Affairs Office.

7. Other works

(18) Fulfilling other tasks assigned by leaders.

Responsibilities of Schools in Undergraduate Teaching Management

i. Students’ Status Management

1. Students’ status management explicitly refers to the management of students’ status and degree, which includes status registration, semester registration, education registration and degree registration, student status change management (suspension, resumption, and withdrawal of schooling), discipline diversion and major transfer management, the issuing of education, degree and other certificates, double degree management, audit of graduation and degree awarding data and their report to the college, the review and distribution of certificates of graduation, academic degree, completion and attendance, the management of academic year extension, modification of students’ status information, academic information correction, tuition accounting, the work relating to the new degree-granting right, the response to the query of academic qualifications and degrees from various institutions and departments.

2. Being responsible for score management, including the work concerning delayed and supplementary exams, transferred students’ course election and enrollment for re-studying courses, exam score input, credit accounting, bonus points for high-level athletes, score objection review, credit transfer, examination paper review and score correction and modification, etc.

3. Reporting to the Teaching Affairs Department of the university about adding functions for the College in the comprehensive teaching affairs management system.

4. Being responsible for students’ status management, including graduates’ materials arrangement and submission to the Archives, the report of students’ discipline violations and cheating on exams to the Teaching Affairs Department, the organization of students signing-up for Degree English, the submission of materials to the degree committee and the relevant consultation service.

ii. Teaching Affairs Operation

1. Being responsible for teaching tasks checking and course scheduling of the College.

2.Being responsible for the checking and adjustment of the teaching implementation plan .

3. Being responsible for the organization of courses election.

4.Being responsible for the adjustment, suspension, and substitution of classes in the process of teaching operation, and reporting to the Teaching Affairs Department of the University.

5. Being responsible for classroom teaching management, and reporting the abnormal teaching situation of the College to the Teaching Affairs Department of the University.

6. Being responsible for the routine teaching inspection of the College

7. Being responsible for work concerning ideological and political teaching reform of courses.

8. Assisting the Publicity Department of the CPC committee in carrying forward teachers’ ethics and morale.

9. Being responsible for the accounting of teachers’ teaching workload, and the allocation and accounting of college teaching quality performance.

10. Organizing the publication and funding of various teaching materials and reporting to the Teaching Affairs Department of the university.

11. Being responsible for the textbook selection and teacher’s book management.

12. Being responsible for the audit and management of the teaching personnel recruitment of the College.

iii. Teaching Reform and Development

1. Being responsible for formulating the teaching development planning of the College.

2.Being responsible for compiling the undergraduate enrollment plan and major introduction.

3. Assisting the College in conducting teaching reform research and being responsible for the application and management of teaching research programs.

4. Being responsible for the cultivation and management of teaching achievement awards of the college.

iv. Teaching Practice Management

1. Being responsible for the scheduling of practical courses (including internship and experimental courses).

2. Being responsible for the inspection of experimental courses taught at the College.

3. Being responsible for the adjustment, suspension, and substitution of experimental courses of the College.

4. Being responsible for the application, construction, and management of the experiment demonstration center, virtual simulation experiment center, and virtual simulation experiment project.

5. Being responsible for the management of consumables in the college laboratory.

6. Being responsible for the information statistics of the college laboratory.

7. Being responsible for the graduation project (thesis).

8. Being responsible for teaching management in the summer semester.

9. Being responsible for the work concerning the off-campus internship and training.

v. Teaching Condition and Construction

1. Being responsible for the use and management of special funds for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors.

2. Being responsible for the management of college students innovation and entrepreneurship training programs.

3. Being responsible for the management of the students innovation and entrepreneurship base.

4. Being responsible for the management of scientific research and training projects.

5. Being responsible for the management of discipline competition.

6. Being responsible for the work concerning the credit of innovation and entrepreneurship.

7. Being responsible for the contact with training projects for top-notch talents.

8. Being responsible for the amendment of the undergraduate major training program.

9. Being responsible for the construction and application of new majors.

10. Being responsible for credit admission.

vi. Exam Management

1. Promoting the examination reform according to the requirements of the University and the College; the Clinical Schools shall assist in carrying out the work relating to the homogenization examination of clinical medicine and the examination reform.

2. Being responsible for the organization and management of all kinds of examinations for undergraduates of the College (including the extension of the academic year, make-up and postponement of examinations, final examinations, selection examinations for excellent classes, and examinations for changing majors)

3. Being responsible for the surveillance and inspection arrangement of the examination in process, dealing with emergencies in the examination, and maintaining the smooth progress of the examinations

4. Being responsible for material filing of exams and review of relevant exam certification for undergraduate students.

5. Being responsible for the acceptance and audit of the manuscript of the examination paper as well as the sorting and filing of the paper.

6. Being responsible for examination paper analysis.

7. Assisting the university and the college with College English Tests.

8. Being responsible for the graduation examination of the college.

vii. Teaching Quality and Assessment

1. Being responsible for the construction and management of the monitoring & assessment system of routine teaching quality.

2. Organizing the collection and feedback of its basic teaching status data.

3. Being responsible for its students’ evaluation of teaching and assessment of teachers’ teaching quality.

4. Organizing overall evaluation of its majors.

5. Organizing self-evaluation and assessment of undergraduate teaching status.

6. Being responsible for the cultural construction of its undergraduate teaching quality.

7. Organizing the writing and publish the “Schools’ Teaching Quality Report” of the university.

8. Taking part in various professional certifications and assessments conducted by Jiangxi Province and the country and advancing its relevant majors to participate in the world-class assessment.

viii. Joint Training

1. Being responsible for the training and management of its students from the Education and Training Program of Excellent Doctors.

2. Being responsible for the construction of its off-campus internship and training base.

3. Being responsible for students overseas exchanges.

4. Being responsible for co-operations between universities as well as the university and enterprises.

ix. Development of Teachers and Teaching

1. Conducting teachers’ training.

2. Conducting teaching consultation and assessment.

3. Conducting teaching research and reform.

4. Leading the reform of grass-roots teaching.

5. Being responsible for the selection and management of members of the Teaching Guidance Committee.

6. Being responsible for the management of teachers’ teaching competitions.

7. Being responsible for the construction and management of the teaching team.

8. Being responsible for the review and management of teachers’ teaching achievements.

9. Being responsible for the approval and report of teachers’ teaching awards.

10. Assisting the university and the college in the selection and management of Top 10 Teaching Models and other honorary titles.

x. Courses Construction

1. Being responsible for course construction of the college.

2. Being responsible for the amendment and management of the college’s course syllabus.

3. Being responsible for making adjustments to the professional cultivation programs of the College.

4. Being responsible for the declaration, construction, and management of the first-class courses of the college.

5. Being responsible for the work relating to the teaching reform of online and offline blended courses of the college.

6. Being responsible for the construction, application, and dissemination of the college’s online courses.
