The Postdoctoral Research Station of Basic Medicine at Nanchang University (hereinafter referred to as “the Station”) was approved for establishment in 2023. It recruits outstanding doctoral graduates to conduct postdoctoral research, supporting the talent-driven and innovation-driven development strategies aimed at strengthening both the university and the province.
The Station is primarily supported by the School of Basic Medicine, which traces its origins to the Department of Basic Medicine of Jiangxi Medical College, founded in 1934. Currently, the school consists of 5 departments, 12 teaching and research sections, and 1 affiliated research institute, the Biomedicine Research Institute. Over the past ninety years, the school has built upon its legacy and continued to progress, training a large number of teaching and research talents in basic and clinical medicine for the nation. The Station is underpinned by 1 first-class doctoral program and 1 first-class master's program in Basic Medicine. Leveraging the strong faculty of the School of Basic Medicine, it has attracted and nurtured a cohort of leading experts and young talents.
The supporting school of the Station actively responds to the national demand for major innovations and the cutting-edge developments in international medical science and technology, aligning with the call to “build first-class universities and first-class disciplines.” It focuses on developing first-class disciplines and advantageous subject groups, particularly in areas such as regenerative medicine and reproductive biology, nervous system and diseases, molecular targeting of solid tumors, structural biology and drug research, as well as bacteriology and immunology. The station can leverage various provincial and ministerial innovation centers and key laboratories, including the Ministry of Education's Innovation Center for Basic Research in Molecular Targeting of Solid Tumors, the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Neuroscience, the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Reproductive Physiology and Pathology, the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Autonomic Nervous Function and Disease, and the Jiangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Tumor Pathogen and Molecular Pathology. Additionally, it has access to research and social service platforms such as the Biomedical Research Institute and the Forensic Medicine Research Institute at Nanchang University.
Focusing on cutting-edge areas in basic medicine, as well as addressing public health needs and major national strategic demands, the Station recruits outstanding PhD graduates each year from both within and outside the province who align with the research directions of the mentors at the Station. This initiative aims to promote the development of first-class medical disciplines at Nanchang University, enhance the quality of high-level research talent cultivation in Jiangxi Province, and contribute to the province's goal of building a hub for science and education by leveraging the strengths of the basic medicine programs at Nanchang University.
